Drosera capillaris 'Brunswick Co, NC', Pink Sundew, live carnivorous plant, potted

This small sundew is native to the Southern United States down through Central America to Northern South America. They mostly grow in boggy, wet areas in sandy or peaty-sandy soils. They are relatively cold hardy (down to zone 6) but unlike many sundews native to the US, they do not die back in the winter. If given light and warmth it will continue to grow throughout the colder months. When grown in bright light/ full sun, the plants will develop a nice pink coloring. They stay quite small, around 1" across, but tend to form clumps over time. They can do well in a terrarium, bright windowsill or in a temperate bog. They have small, pink to purple flowers which bloom sequentially. They are excellent at capturing small prey such as gnats, mosquitoes and fruit flies.

Available in a 3.5" pot and will be shipped potted.

Drosera Care: Sundews do best in partial shade to full sun. They are well suited for growing on window ledges or outdoors during warm months. They must be watered with non-chlorinated water preferably with a low TDS (between 0 and 25ppm). You can use rain water, RO or distilled. Allow to dry slightly but not completely in between waterings. When watering, place plants in a tray and pour water in tray about 1/2” (referred to as the tray method). Avoid watering the crown of the plant. Temperature should be maintained between 60°F and 85°F. They are not too particular about humidity requirements. If your Drosera has little to no dew, increase light. They generally do well in open terrariums. *Filiformis and intermedia will die back during the winter to form a “winter bud”. In the spring it will ‘wake up’ and begin producing leaves again.
